CrewPlay

Ball-by-ball scoring & verified profiles for amateur cricket

Existing cricket apps focus on scoring (CricHeroes) or venue booking (Playo). None build a portable player identity. CrewPlay turns every ball you score into a verified player profile — stats accumulate across matches, teams, and seasons. Share your profile instantly via QR code. Built by 7 students at JIT Chennai. Spring Boot + Flutter 3 Google Play rejections before going live May 3, 2026. Starting with cricket. The identity gap exists in every amateur sport.

Last November I was sitting on the boundary at a local tournament in Chennai. A kid maybe 16 bowled five overs of leg spin and took three wickets. Clean bowled two of them. Nobody wrote it down. No scorecard. No video. His parents weren't even there. A week later I asked someone at the ground about that bowler. Nobody remembered his name. That's when this stopped being a college project. I'm a 2nd year CSE student at Jeppiaar Institute of Technology, and I kept watching talent disappear into weekends that nobody recorded. We built CrewPlay so every amateur cricketer can have a verified stat page. You score a match ball-by-ball, and the app automatically updates each player's profile runs, wickets, strike rate, everything. Profiles are shareable as a QR identity card so your record follows you across teams and tournaments. We're a team of 7 students, incubated at the JIT Innovation Hub in Chennai. Google rejected our app three times before we got it right; every rejection meant a 3–7 day wait and changes, all while we were writing semester exams. On May 3rd it finally went live on the Play Store. We're starting with cricket because that's what we know. But the problem athletes with no record of what they've done exists in every amateur sport in India. If you play local cricket, try it. Score a match and see what your profile looks like after.

Who hunted CrewPlay?

CrewPlay was hunted by Vishnu. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
