CrateWire

Find the tracks DJs play on Instagram, TikTok and in sets

I built CrateWire because most tracks in DJ clips on Instagram were impossible to find. Follow a DJ and it goes through their posts: it listens to the audio, reads the caption and checks the comments where people ask "ID?". You get the tracks with links to Beatport, Traxsource, Bandcamp and Spotify. Paste one post, or a SoundCloud, YouTube or Mixcloud set, to get its tracklist with cue times. You can try a post or a set without an account. Plans start at $3 a month.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Simon, the maker of CrateWire. I'm a DJ, and before this I spent years as a management consultant. CrateWire came out of my own frustration: finding the tracks other DJs are actually playing is genuinely painful. The IDs are scattered across captions, buried in "track ID?" comments, or just not there, and Shazam mostly gives up on mixed or talked-over clips. The thing I kept noticing: the tracks I cared about most were the ones DJs post about on Instagram. Those are the ones they're proud of, the ones they use to build credibility. So those felt like the highest-signal songs to chase. CrateWire makes that effortless. You follow the DJs you care about, and it continuously reads their public Instagram posts to identify what they're playing, with a confidence score on every ID and a cross-DJ feed of what's new. Under the hood it runs a waterfall: Instagram's music data, then the caption, then the comments, then audio fingerprinting, and reconciles them into one score. The biggest shift while building it was going from a "paste a link, get a tracklist" tool to a "follow your DJs, never miss a track" feed. The continuous, cross-DJ view is where it finally got useful for me. I'd love feedback, especially from other DJs and crate-diggers: which DJs would you track first, and what would make you trust an automated track ID? Who hunted CrateWire?

CrateWire was hunted by Simon Tchaghlassian. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
