Hey Product Hunt! I'm Marilyn, co-founder of CourtStairs with Roy. We built this because getting a straight answer about the law in Canada costs hundreds of dollars an hour, so most people just never ask. And the AI chatbots people quietly use instead have two problems that really matter in law: they make up citations, and they only know today's law, when your case is usually about something that happened in the past. So we went deep on both. Every answer cites the actual statute, regulation, or ruling behind it, and you can click through and check. And we built a corpus of 568,085 historical versions of Canadian statutes, so you can ask what the law said on the day your contract was signed. A few things I'm proud of: it works in English and French, there's a free tier for everyone, and you can literally phone it and talk to it, no internet required, because the people who need legal answers most often have the least access. We're two people, bootstrapped, and lawyers are already using it daily (one asked 306 questions in ten weeks). We're in the Law Society of Ontario's regulatory sandbox, which keeps us honest. Would love your feedback, especially from any Canadian lawyers or anyone who's ever given up on understanding a legal problem. Ask me anything!
