Country Filter for X (Twitter)
Hide posts from any country, right in your X timeline
A simple blocklist for your X timeline. Check a country in the popup and its posts vanish from your For You feed, Following feed, search, and reply threads. Uncheck it and they come right back — everything else stays untouched. No sign-up, no tracking, no external servers; your settings stay in your browser. Detection runs locally: known accounts, country/city keywords, post language, and the author's public profile location. Open source (MIT).
I spend a lot of time on X, and a chunk of my feed is always noise from places I just don't follow for. There was no way to filter by country — mute lists don't scale and X gives you nothing here.
So I built the simplest thing that works: check a country, its posts disappear. Timeline, search, replies. Uncheck it and they're back. No account, no tracking, no servers — it all runs locally in your browser.
The tricky part was detection, since X exposes no verified location. It started as keyword/language guessing, then grew into reading the author's public profile location from X's own API in your own session. It's a blocklist, so imperfect detection just means a post occasionally slips through — you never lose content by mistake.
It's open source (MIT) — feedback, PRs, and country data welcome:
