Copy Path As

Copy Finder paths in the format your workflow needs

Copy Path As adds practical path-copying commands to the macOS Finder context menu. Select files or folders, right-click, and copy paths as absolute paths, shell-escaped strings, home-relative paths, Git-relative paths, file URLs, JSON, Markdown links, filenames, or parent folders. It is open source, signed and notarized for macOS 15+, and does not read file contents, use the network, or collect telemetry.

Top comment

Hi Product Hunt, I built Copy Path As because I kept needing the same Finder workflow in slightly different formats: a clean absolute path for a note, a shell-escaped path for Terminal, a JSON string for config, a Markdown link for docs, or a Git-relative path for code review. Copy Path As adds those commands directly to Finder's right-click menu. Select one or more files or folders, choose the format, and the result is copied to your clipboard. What it supports today: Absolute, single-quoted, shell-escaped, home-relative, and Git-relative paths File URLs, JSON strings, JSON arrays, and Markdown links Filename, filename without extension, and parent folder Multiple selections, with JSON Array producing one valid array It is a native macOS Finder extension for macOS 15+, distributed through GitHub Releases and Homebrew: brew install --cask vfedoroff/tap/copypathas The app is sandboxed, does not read file contents, does not access the network, and does not collect telemetry. I would especially like feedback from developers, technical writers, QA engineers, and anyone who often moves paths between Finder, Terminal, editors, tickets, docs, and config files. What path formats are still missing from your workflow?
