I built this because I was tired of guessing my way through GIF compression every time I needed something to fit under Discord's emoji limit, or a Slack size cap, or whatever platform I was uploading to that day.
Every tool I tried had the same two problems. First, you get a quality slider and have to guess-export-check-repeat until the file is small enough. Second, batch processing is usually the paid upsell, since most of these tools are uploading your file to a server and charging you for the compute.
CompressGIFs fixes both. You type in your target size (or pick a Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, or Telegram preset) and it runs a binary search across compression settings until it hits your number automatically. And since the whole thing runs on gifsicle compiled to WASM, right in your browser, there's no server doing the work. Which means batch processing costs nothing extra to offer, so it's just unlimited. Drop in 40 GIFs, walk away, come back to 40 compressed files.
There's also a compliance checker built in. Upload a GIF, pick a platform, and get a pass or fail on size, dimensions, and format together, with a specific note on what to fix. If you mod a Discord server, this is the thing worth pinning in your assets channel.
