I built COML.LC because identity online shouldn’t be something you rent. It’s a free personal domain system designed to give everyone a clean, permanent link they actually own.
I built COML.LC because I’ve always felt that personal identity online shouldn’t be something you have to rent. Traditional domains come with subscriptions, renewals, upsells, and a constant sense that you don’t fully own your name. I wanted to create something that pushed in the opposite direction: a simple, public‑good tool that gives people a clean personal link they can actually keep, free forever.
The idea started as a small experiment in building a lightweight identity layer without paywalls or friction. As I worked on it, the approach kept evolving toward universality fast signup, no catch, no complexity, and a domain extension built specifically for people rather than companies. Most of the process was late‑night debugging, simplifying every step, and making sure claiming a domain felt as easy as choosing a username.
The problem I wanted to solve was straightforward: owning your identity online shouldn’t require a subscription. COML.LC is my attempt to make that better by giving everyone a free, permanent personal domain they can use anywhere -- socials, email, business cards, or anywhere they want a clean link that represents them.
