Cognex
Build applications with not backend infrastructure.
CognexDB turns any folder into a backend for apps and AI agents. Unlike traditional backend platforms, you start with your project not cloud infrastructure. Build locally, query readable data with SQL, connect through SDKs, REST, and MCP, then self-host or move to Postgres later without starting over.
Hey everyone! 👋 Obed here, the maker of CognexDB.
This project started from a frustration I kept running into. Every new app seemed to begin with the same checklist: create a database, configure APIs, wire everything together, then finally start building.
I wanted to see what would happen if the backend started with the project instead.
That's the idea behind CognexDB: connect a folder, and it becomes a backend your app and AI agents can use.
I'd really love honest feedback.
A few questions I'd love your thoughts on:
Does the idea of "a folder becomes your backend" make sense, or is it confusing?
At what point would you choose Cognex over something like Supabase or SQLite?
What's the first feature you'd expect before using it on a real project?
If you wouldn't use it, what's the biggest reason why?
I'm still actively building Cognex, so your feedback will genuinely influence what comes next.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out—I appreciate it more than you know! 🚀
