I built Cloaksmith because I kept wanting AI's help with my own tax returns and bank statements, but pasting them into a chatbot means handing a stranger's server my name, address, and account numbers.
Cloaksmith fixes that on your Mac: drop in a PDF, Word doc, or scan, and a small AI model running entirely on your machine finds the personal details. You review what it found, un-hide anything that should stay, and it saves a clean copy that is safe to share. The redaction is real: the text and pixels are actually removed, not covered with a black box someone can copy the text out from under. You can even swap details for realistic stand-ins so the AI's answer still reads naturally.

Honest limits: it needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer) on macOS 15+, and no tool catches 100% of everything, which is exactly why the review step exists.
