Hi Product Hunt 👋 I built **claudeFS** because I use Claude.ai a lot for thinking, writing, and reviewing work, but working with local files always felt unnecessarily awkward. The usual workflow was: upload a file → talk with Claude → download the result → move it back into my project → repeat. So I started with a simple question: **What if Claude.ai could work directly with a local folder?** claudeFS is my answer. It’s a free, open-source Chrome/Edge extension that lets Claude.ai: * read files from a folder you choose * search across those files * create and edit files * show you changes before they’re written There’s no API key, desktop app, or separate backend required. I see claudeFS as complementary to Claude Code rather than a replacement for it. Claude Code is great for execution-heavy development work; claudeFS is useful when you want to stay in the conversational Claude.ai experience while working with your own files. I’m especially curious how people might use this with Markdown notes, Obsidian vaults, codebases, research, or writing projects. It’s still an early project, so feedback is very welcome — especially around workflows, security, and what file capabilities would be most useful next. I also wrote a longer post about why I built claudeFS and how it fits into my workflow: https://vincentping.com/en/claud... Thanks for checking it out!
