Inspiration: Twenty years working in video production and live streaming. Creating content, broadcasts, virtual events, editing. I was on the supply side of that industry my whole career and watched the platforms keep getting worse for the people actually making the content. I got de-platformed once over background music in a live stream I produced for a client. That stuck with me. Shifting rules, no recourse, no ownership of what you uploaded. In 2021 I got into crypto as an investor and started seeing what smart contracts could actually do. I had ideas but I wasn't a developer, so they sat on a list. Eventually I taught myself enough to start building, and Circuit is what came out of it. Problems it solves: Creator economics. Every other platform takes 10 to 30 percent of what creators earn. Circuit creators set their price and keep 100 percent of it. The viewer pays the platform fee on top, enforced by the contract. Not a rev-share, a structural inversion. Digital ticketing. The Ticketmaster rulings made it obvious how broken event ticketing is. Tickets on Circuit mint as NFTs atomically with the USDC payment. One transaction pays the creator and puts a verifiable ticket in the buyer's wallet. Platform risk. Circuit's rails are non-custodial. Money flows directly from viewer to creator. The contracts are public on Base. Nobody can hold your funds or change the deal. Approach: Build the product first, worry about the audience after it works. The constraint I set was that a non-crypto user should be able to use Circuit without knowing it's onchain. That meant CDP embedded wallets, sign in with Google, top up with a card through Coinbase Onramp. The blockchain is the backend, not the pitch. Everything money-related lives on Base mainnet. Four verified smart contracts handle payments, tips, and ticket sales with atomic settlement, so creators don't wait for payouts and don't have to trust me to send the money. For streaming I went with proven open infrastructure. Ant Media for RTMP ingest and HLS delivery, BunnyCDN as the CDN layer, Video.js for playback. Boring tech for the parts that need to just work. Evolution: It started as Ghostchain on Cardano in early 2024. Cardano made sense at the time for the smart contract layer but the UX gap was too wide for non-crypto creators. I migrated everything to Base in 2025 and the whole product got better. USDC, embedded wallets, Onramp, an L2 that's fast and cheap. The feature surface grew as I used it. Multi-camera director for indie sports events. Nine widget types for overlays. Token gating, Stripe creator tiers for storage scaling, an XP system for viewer retention. Polls, surveys, chat, comments. Twenty months in it's a complete platform, live on mainnet, every flow working. Now the work shifts from building to finding the creators it was built for.

Who hunted Circuit?

Circuit was hunted by Steve Weed. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
