Cinephile
Track anime, movies and series offline, on your desktop
Cinephile is a free Windows app to track anime, movies, web series and documentaries without an account. Your Backlog, Vault, Hall of Fame and albums stay on your PC, nothing goes to a server. Show any list as a bookshelf of poster spines, and group titles into your own albums. Open source, built with Electron.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Veeral, the maker of Cinephile.
I built it because most trackers want an account and keep your watch list on someone else's server. I wanted something that works like a personal notebook: open the app, and your lists are there, on your own PC.
What it does:
- Browse trending anime, movies, web series and documentaries
- The Backlog (to watch), The Vault (completed) and Hall of Fame
- Book view: any list shown as a shelf of book spines made from posters
- The Multiverse: your own albums with custom covers
It's free and open source, with no account, no analytics and no server. Your data stays in a folder on your computer.
Download for Windows: https://github.com/veeralprataps...
A few honest notes:
- Windows only for now, and no sync between devices yet.
- The installer isn't code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
- It comes with a shared TMDB key so it works right away. If posters ever stop loading, add your own free key from the key button at the top right.
I'd love your feedback: what's missing, and what would make you switch from your current tracker? I'll reply to every comment today.

Who hunted Cinephile?
Cinephile was hunted by Veeral Pratap Singh. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
