Cinema Circle

Track movies with friends, compare ratings, save history.

Cinema Circle is an online movie tracker designed specifically to use with your friends. It acts as a permanent history of everything your crew watches together. Everyone can write reviews, drop their ratings on a visual 1-to-10 timeline, and instantly compare opinions. Over time, the app generates detailed stats about your group's tastes, creating a complete archive of your shared movie nights, favorite genres, and biggest disagreements.

Hey everyone.

I built Cinema Circle to solve a really specific annoyance I had with my own friend group. We do regular movie nights, and trying to keep track of our shared watchlist and everyone's ratings using a giant, messy Google Sheet was driving me crazy.

Standard trackers (which I love for my personal diary) just don't handle group dynamics very well.

So, scratching my own itch, I built a dedicated web app for movie crews. The main thing I focused on was a better way to visualize the group's opinion. Instead of just calculating a boring average score of "7.2", the app uses a horizontal timeline. When you vote, your avatar pops up on the scale. It instantly shows you who the group's biggest contrarian is and exactly how split the room was.

You can create a private, invite-only room for your friends, keep a single shared watchlist, and build a history of your movie nights over time.

It's a free passion project. I set up a couple of open public rooms so you can jump in and test out the voting UI on some popular movies without having to create your own group first.

I'd really love to hear your thoughts, especially if you have a movie club of your own. I'll be hanging around to answer questions or fix whatever bugs you guys inevitably find!
