Ciela

Clean your inbox — Runs local. No account, no subscription.

I had over 100,000 emails in my inbox and built this to deal with it. Ciela scans your Gmail and groups every sender into categories — marketing, receipts, newsletters, security alerts, and more. You can trash everything from a sender in one click, with a date filter to protect recent emails and only remove the old backlog. Everything runs locally. No servers, no account, no subscription. The only connections it ever makes are to Gmail's own API. Backend is Rust. Free. Windows only for now.

Hey! I'm David. I built Ciela as a side project after sitting on 100,000+ emails and wanting to actually do something about it. I didn't want to hand my Gmail access to someone else's server, so I built something that runs entirely on my machine. Happy to answer any questions about how it works.

Who hunted Ciela?

Ciela was hunted by David Lyon. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
