I built Chronicle because every AI writing tool I tried had the same problem: the moment our novel got past ~30,000 words, the model started forgetting things it wrote itself two chapters ago — our character's eye color, a promise made in chapter 3, a plot thread that was supposed to pay off.
Chronicle fixes that by keeping a real "story bible" — characters, locations, relationships, plot threads, timeline — and feeding the whole thing into every single AI call, not just whatever fits in the context window. So a hundred thousand words in, it still remembers.
The other thing that mattered to me: it runs entirely on your own machine, on your own local model (LM Studio or Ollama) — no cloud, no subscription, no account, no manuscript ever leaving your computer. That was non-negotiable for me as a writer; I didn't want a startup owning a copy of my unfinished novel.
It's currently in a small free beta — beta testers keep their copy forever regardless of what launch pricing ends up being.
