Chowy
End the "what's for dinner?" standoff with a swipe
Every night: "what do we eat?" → "I dunno, what do you want?" → takeout again. Chowy fixes it. Everyone in the house swipes Tinder-style on meal ideas and you cook what you actually agree on. Plus a pantry, weekly planner, barcode scanner, and AI recipes.
Hey PH 👋 I'm the maker.
This started as the dumbest possible app. Every evening my wife and I ran the same loop: "what do we eat?" → "I don't know, what do you want?" → 25 minutes of nothing → takeout. So one weekend I built a referee: everyone swipes Tinder-style on meal ideas, and Chowy surfaces what we actually agree on.
Then I fell down the rabbit hole. "If we know what we're eating, generate the shopping list…" → did that. "But I already own half this stuff…" → built a pantry so it only adds what's missing. "I hate typing groceries…" → barcode scanner. "Want something new?" → AI-generated recipes. Six months later the dinner-fight referee is a full meal-planning app.
I'll be honest: so far the only validators are me and my wife, so I'm here for the cold, unsentimental version. Two things I'd genuinely love to know:
Is swiping-to-decide the actual hook for you, or do you care more about the pantry/planner side?
What would make you open this a second time?
It's live at chowy.app — free to try. Tear it apart, that's why I'm here. I'll be in the comments all day.

Who hunted Chowy?
Chowy was hunted by Andrei Herghelegiu. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
