Chompass
Free, open-source calorie tracker. No ads, no trackers.
Free, open-source calorie tracker. No ads, no trackers. Android app and installable browser PWA (any modern browser; Chromium works best). Community fork of Fud AI same BYOK food logging, plus keto mode and a leaner privacy-first roadmap https://chompass.app/
Hi, I'm the maintainer of Chompass, an ad-free calorie tracker for Android and the browser.
It's a fork of Fud AI. Upstream added AdMob banners for a bit, and that's what pushed me to fork it. Chompass has no ads, no account requirement, and no analytics.
You bring your own AI key for food logging, a free Google AI Studio key covers casual use, or on Android you can run Gemma 4 on-device so nothing leaves your phone. Log food with a photo, voice, barcode, or a typed note like "2 eggs and toast" and it parses out calories and macros. On Android it also connects to Health Connect, so it works with Gadgetbridge, openScale, and most wearables. Diary and body-metrics data export as plain JSON/CSV. The Android APK is about 30 MiB, way less its peers.
It's open source (MIT license), distributed through F-Droid, Obtainium, and Codeberg rather than the Play Store.
Photo-based calorie estimation is still the weak point I'm doing accuracy benchmarks, which are published in the repo and would take any feedback on that or anything else.
