ChainMoji started as a simple idea: could a game be built around the universal language of emojis?
At the same time, I was curious about something else. As a long-time PHP developer and technology manager, I wanted to explore how far modern PHP tooling had evolved. When I discovered NativePHP, I saw an opportunity to combine both interests into a real project.
The problem I wanted to solve was creating a puzzle experience that anyone could understand instantly, regardless of language or age. Emojis are familiar to almost everyone, yet combining them into meaningful chains creates surprisingly engaging challenges.
My approach evolved significantly during development. What began as a technical experiment quickly became a product-focused journey. Instead of concentrating only on building an app, I started thinking about gameplay, difficulty balancing, player engagement, progression, monetization, app store publishing, and long-term growth.
One of the most rewarding parts of the process was seeing an idea move from a simple concept to a published Android game. Along the way, I also documented the journey, learned a great deal about mobile game development, and discovered that technologies we often associate with web development can be used to build and ship complete mobile experiences.
ChainMoji is just the beginning. Future plans include daily puzzles, new game modes, social challenges, and expanding the emoji puzzle concept in creative ways.
