Hi Product Hunt, I built Caxton because I kept watching good tools fall over at sizes that are normal now. Excel stops at 1,048,576 rows. Most editors load the whole file into RAM and beachball somewhere past a few hundred MB.
Caxton is a native macOS editor (Swift/AppKit, no Electron) built around one idea: never load the file. It memory-maps everything, so a 10 GB log is scrollable and searchable the moment it opens, while indexing streams in the background. The numbers on the site are all from a benchmark harness that runs inside the real app, find across 10 GB in 1.3s (1.61M matches, counted exactly), Replace All over all of them in 1.7s as one undo step.
CSVs get a real grid: 2M rows parse in 2.6 s, sorting is typed (numbers as numbers, dates as dates, with a secondary key), dedupe/frequency/fill series included. and the file never stops being plain text, so saving writes the same CSV back.
