Breathe digital life into the physical world. Create digital experiences empowered by physical goods or waypoints in everything from websites to Roblox. Or discover exciting experiences that interest you as a holder of select merch, toys and apparel.
Hello fellow Hunters,
I'm excited to introduce you to our first product - Causality!
Causality is the bridge for unique digital journeys powered by physical items. Our purpose is to be the premier destination for powering and discovering a dynamic, interconnected world.
We achieve this by letting you, both as a creator and a participant, better utilize a technology that has existed for many years: Near Field Communication (NFC) tags. Causality’s platform has two main aspects: (1) a dev tool for creating experiences and (2) a discovery tool for end-users and audiences to find them.
The concept for Causality came to me in early 2022 as a way to make physical goods more meaningful in a digital world. Originally, I saw this as a means to prevent merch and tchotchkes that are handed out at conferences from being thrown away 3 days later. I drew inspiration from Tim Sweeney's approach with Unreal Engine and the Epic Games Store to build this as a democratized platform, envisioning Causality being accessible to big enterprises and brands just as much as to hobbyist devs and individuals.
You can now create experiences or “empower” physical stuff using nothing more than off-the-shelf NFC tags and simple API calls in any environment. Management of the NFC chips, their authentication (depending on the chip), and even the need for a native app on iOS in order to access certain ones, have all been built into our infrastructure. End-users don't have to do anything more than scan and tap.
What can a Causality-powered journey look like? Here are just a few examples:
* Tapping a toy or shirt to lower a drawbridge in Roblox
* Discord bots that grant you exclusive roles by scanning physical items
* An activation for a conference/event encouraging people to network and visit booths by scanning each others NFC-tagged wristbands (or NFC-tagged booths)
* Changing/upgrading/altering a website’s appearance using physical merch you received for being a loyal fan
* Digital photos/portraits/cards that you can have physically autographed by your favorite celeb/athlete when you meet them in person
END USERS: Just download our app. No account creation, payment, or log-in involved. See app store links.
DEVELOPERS: Fill out the following form and we'll generate an account for you. It's free to have and free to use. We even have a supply of NFCs to send you (free), if interested. https://forms.gle/szUvuUrespcwfw9EA
I encourage you to just dive in. Your feedback and support would be appreciated and welcomed here!
Thank you for your time and attention, everyone!!

For those interested in more info, here’s a short primer about NFCs.
In 2019, Mattel had an entire toy line called "Hot Wheels id" based on NFC-enabled digital utility. In the 10 years before that, we had "Toys-to-Life": Webkinz, the Nintendo Amiibo, Disney Infinity, Activision Skylanders. Most recently -- fashion brands like Balenciaga launched an entire line of clothes that come with NFC tags you can use to unlock an extra level in a novel mini-game they created.
What changed over the decades is the ubiquitousness of NFCs. Where once they were more expensive and hard to find, today they are cheap, available everywhere, and readable by almost any mobile phone. The timing is right, they just need a powerful People's Tool to make use of them in more compelling ways and in environments previously unexplored (like plugging them into Unity). That's what we want Causality to be.
