Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I teach in a computer programming program at a technical college, and every year I watch the same thing happen: students and parents trying to figure out which courses a program requires, in what order, and what they’ll be able to do afterward, using PDFs and web pages that rarely agree with each other. So I built Catalogist, a free WordPress plugin that turns a college’s website into a real program and course catalog. You enter each course and program once, and every page stays in sync. Change a course’s credits, and every program map that includes it updates. What it does: • Semester-by-semester program maps, with a separate map for each credential (an associate degree and a certificate, say) • Choice slots for electives, including lecture and lab pairs • Pathways students can switch between, with credit totals that follow • Course pages with linked prerequisites • Searchable, filterable Program and Course Finders • Spreadsheet import (CSV or Excel), so you start from the course list you already have It works with any WordPress theme, it’s built to be keyboard- and screen-reader-friendly, and it’s open source under the GPL. Your data stays in your own WordPress site. If you’d like to try it, there’s a sample catalog for a fictional college you can import and click around in, plus a step-by-step guide on the website. I’d love feedback, especially from anyone who works on a college website: what’s the most painful part of keeping your program pages up to date? That’s what I want to tackle next.
