I spent 5 years working my way up to supervisor at a hardware retailer, running teams across a dozen different systems — then tried to pivot into IT support and office admin roles and got completely stonewalled. Not because I wasn't qualified for anything, but because my resume read as "retail" and nothing translated.
I tried a bunch of AI resume tools first. Every single one told me I was a great fit for everything I pasted in. Cool, except I know I'm not — and getting an interview off an overselling resume just means bombing it two weeks later when the gap shows up in person.
So I built Career Change Strategist to do the opposite: tell you the truth.
