I built this app because I realized that a lot of people are afraid of buying used cars because they can't identify its mechanical state; I found the lack of a useful tool that can use the wonders of AI, helping diagnose issues on vehicles.
The idea is simple: your smartphone already has a great microphone and camera. Why not let AI listen and look at your car the same way a master mechanic would?
After months of real-world testing — in actual garages, with actual mechanics — we launched on Android last week.
A few things I learned building this:
- AI hears frequencies the human ear simply can't
- The hardest part wasn't the AI — it was training AI to analyze the media files properly;
- Mechanics also love informed customers and it can back up the mechanic diagnostic with more accuracy. This helps both sides.
