Canairy

Real-time air quality alerts for the places you care about.

Stop refreshing the air quality map. Canairy watches it for you and speaks up only when it matters. You set your own alert thresholds, tuned to how sensitive you or your family are, and get a push or text the moment any of your places crosses that line, with quiet hours so it never buzzes at 2am. It reads real-time, block-level data from the PurpleAir network for up to 10 locations, no hardware to buy. Free to start. Real peace of mind for smoke season and year-round asthma.

Hey everyone, Jason here. Jennifer (my wife) and I made Canairy. We're up in Northern California. We deal with wildfire smoke up here (and have had to evacuate a couple of times), and one of us has asthma, so we pay attention to the air pretty much year round. For a long time that meant pulling up the PurpleAir map a bunch of times a day and trying to eyeball whether the kids could go outside, or whether it was any better a few miles away. Not a great system. The data was all there (we even have our own sensor), it just took a person to babysit it. So we built what we wanted instead: pick the places you care about, set the level that matters to you, and it tells you when the air crosses it. And quiet hours so it's not going off in the middle of the night. It's free for iPhone and Android, and we'd love to hear what you think, especially if smoke or asthma is part of your life. Tell us what's missing. canairy-aq.com

Who hunted Canairy?

Canairy was hunted by Jason Curtis. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
