Hey everyone, Jason here. Jennifer (my wife) and I made Canairy. We're up in Northern California.
We deal with wildfire smoke up here (and have had to evacuate a couple of times), and one of us has asthma, so we pay attention to the air pretty much year round. For a long time that meant pulling up the PurpleAir map a bunch of times a day and trying to eyeball whether the kids could go outside, or whether it was any better a few miles away. Not a great system.
The data was all there (we even have our own sensor), it just took a person to babysit it. So we built what we wanted instead: pick the places you care about, set the level that matters to you, and it tells you when the air crosses it. And quiet hours so it's not going off in the middle of the night.
