I felt like most kids' apps today rely on flashing lights, timers, daily streaks and features that aim at producing FOMO. For many children, especially those on the Autism spectrum or with ADHD, this leads to sensory overload and a tendency to develop unhealthy screen habits.
As a neurodivergent developer, I wanted to build the exact opposite. In fact, I've built an entire philosophy around creating neuro-inclusive games and apps that actively break away from the toxic trends we see in modern software (#darkpatterns).
