ByeByeScrolling
I built an app to block my own Instagram addiction.
I spent 4 hours daily on Instagram Reels. Every screen time app let me cheat. So I built one that doesn't. ByeByeScrolling: strict, unbreakable app blocker. Set a daily limit. Hit it, and the app locks until tomorrow. No override. No snooze. Uses Android AccessibilityService. No data collection. Everything local. For anyone who needs external accountability because willpower fails. Free. Android only. Feedback welcome.
I built this because I was addicted to my own phone.
Last year I averaged 4 hours daily on Instagram Reels. I deleted the app. Reinstalled it in 2 days. I tried Freedom, StayFocusd, every screen time tool I could find. They all had a "disable" button I could tap in 3 seconds.
I needed something I couldn't cheat. So I built it.
ByeByeScrolling uses Android AccessibilityService to physically block apps when your daily limit hits. No override. No "snooze." You set 30 minutes for TikTok, you get 30 minutes. After that, you see a motivation quote and wait until tomorrow.
Everything stays on your device. No servers, no tracking, no data collection. I don't want your data — I want you to stop scrolling.
This is my first app. No VC, no marketing budget, no growth team. Just me and a problem I needed to solve for myself.
If you're struggling with the same thing, I'd genuinely love your feedback. What would make this actually work for you?
What apps are you trying to quit? I'm thinking about adding custom schedules and a "focus mode" next.
