Hello, Product Hunt 🙌🏻
I'm Daniil, a software engineer. Today I'm launching **Burrow**: free, open-source virtual machines for Apple silicon Macs.
**🧩 Why I built it**
I needed Linux, Windows and a clean macOS on my Mac, and I didn't want to pay for a Parallels license. So I built the tool I wanted: click **+**, pick a system, done.
**📦 What is Burrow?**
A native SwiftUI app built on Apple's Virtualization.framework, plus `burrowctl`, a CLI for running the same machines headless. Everything runs locally, it's MIT licensed, and there's no account.
**🔑 Key features**
- **No ISO hunting:** Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian and Alpine are downloaded straight from each publisher and verified against SHA-256
- **Windows 11 on ARM:** Setup runs unattended, with no TPM or Secure Boot checks and a local account; drivers install automatically
**⚙️ Under the hood**
Linux and macOS run on Virtualization.framework. Windows runs on QEMU with Hypervisor.framework, because the Windows boot manager hangs under Virtualization.framework. I also patched QEMU for a 60 fps display.
**🚧 Honest limitations**
ARM64 guests only. Windows has no vTPM or 3D acceleration yet, and there's no USB passthrough. PRs are very welcome; these are great first contributions.
**🙏 Your feedback**
What would make you drop Parallels or UTM for this? Bug reports, feature requests and ⭐ on GitHub all help a lot.
