Hello, I'm Alex and I've been been spending free time and hours working on brewbird with my co-founder Courtney over the last year
It started to have an easy recipe guide that would track timers and steps for me in the morning instead of juggling handwritten notes and a phone timer, and never figuring out what to tweak the next go-around. Eventually it was easier to build the thing instead of losing recipes in paper or zoning out on a timer while I was still waking up.
brewbird is a coffee brewing recipe app: you create your recipes in the app and then when it's time for coffee you pick the one you want. brewbird will guide you through prep and each step with a timer and auto-advancing feature. And When you're done you can leave notes about what went well (or what didn't!) and track your log to tweak the recipe next time until it's just the way you like it.
And once you have a recipe you're proud of, you can use the app to share it on the web or with a QR code, so you can hand someone the exact V60 pourover you're on about instead of describing it badly.
brewbird is supposed to be simple and delightful. There's no feed, no accounts required, no streaks, no AI telling you your coffee tastes like blackcurrant. Your recipes live on your device, with minimum distractions, for free. There's a Ko-fi if you want to help cover the server bill, and that's the entire business model for now.
Courtney did all the visual design and the animation, which is my favourite thing in the app. We also plan to launch more merch with Courtney's custom art down the line.
So if you're trying to refine your morning coffee, find a new recipe, or just brew with confidence, brewbird is a good fit!
