I built BoxSmartly after moving apartments and losing an entire afternoon
tearing open taped-shut boxes looking for a phone charger. Every "packing
app" I tried wanted me to type out a full inventory by hand — which is
exactly the kind of extra work nobody does mid-move.
So I flipped it: give every box a QR code, snap a photo or dictate what's
inside as you pack, then just scan (or search) when you need to find
something. No typing a full inventory line by line, no account required
to start.
I'm a solo iOS developer building this in my spare time — the whole app
is native SwiftUI, works offline, and syncs privately via iCloud if you
go Pro. Free tier covers up to 10 boxes, which is enough to try it on a
real move. Pro is a one-time $14.99 — no subscription, since a move is a
few weeks of your life, not a monthly bill you carry forever.
Would love feedback, especially from anyone who's moved recently (or is
dreading it) — what would make this actually useful for your next move?
