Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built BorderFolio because I got tired of looking at one green “profit” number in my broker account without really knowing what was behind it.
How much came from my own contributions? How much was actual market growth? Were dividends shown before or after withholding tax? What happened to closed positions? And why could two perfectly valid return calculations give me completely different answers?
At one point, I calculated the same portfolio year using time-weighted return and money-weighted return and got +35% and -9.7%. Both were correct — they were just answering different questions.
That became the starting point for BorderFolio.
You can upload broker statements without connecting your brokerage account, and BorderFolio reconstructs the portfolio history so you can separate contributions from investment performance, see TWR and MWR side by side, and understand the impact of dividends, fees, and withholding taxes.
A big focus for me has also been cross-border investing. Where you live, where a fund is domiciled, and how withholding works can materially change what actually reaches you.
This is still an early product, so the feedback I care about most is not “looks nice” — it’s whether you trust the numbers.
