Boomkey
[macOS] Fix text typed in the wrong keyboard layout
Boomkey fixes text typed in the wrong keyboard layout on macOS.Type half a sentence before noticing your keyboard was on the wrong layout? Select the gibberish, double-tap Shift - Boomkey converts it to the other layout. Works with any pair: Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, AZERTY, QWERTZ, Dvorak, 50+ languages.
If you're bilingual, you know the moment - you type a word, look at the screen, and the whole thing is garbage because you were on the wrong keyboard layout. Then you delete everything and retype.
How it works: select text typed on the wrong layout, double-tap Shift, it converts to the other layout. Or double-tap without selecting and it fixes the last word before your cursor. The trigger is rebindable if double-Shift clashes with something in your setup.
Works with 50+ languages - any keyboard layout macOS has installed. Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Georgian, Armenian, Turkish F, Dvorak, Colemak, AZERTY, QWERTZ. The most useful pairs are non-Latin + Latin (Ukrainian + English, Greek + English, Arabic + English) where a wrong layout produces complete gibberish.
A few things I'm proud of:
- Per-app default layout - set Terminal to English, Telegram to Ukrainian, and Boomkey switches automatically when you focus the app - Dead-key shorthand - type "sch=on" on ABC and get "schön" for German. Works for any European language with diacritics - Auto-correction on space (EN - UA only, beta, off by default - every edge case is hard and I'd rather ship something honest than something half-broken) - Auto-skips terminals, IDEs, password/email/URL fields
Privacy: two network calls in the entire app- for the license and for updates. No analytics, no telemetry, no logs.
Works best in native macOS apps (Notes, Mail, Messages, Safari, Pages). Electron apps (Slack, Discord, Telegram) work too but can be finicky - that's the nature of Electron, not much I can do about it.
7-day free trial, $14.99 lifetime. Not a subscription.(-10% for fist 100)
I also make Hush (screen blur for screen sharing) and Tidyshot (screenshot organizer) under poteam.pro.
Would love feedback, especially from people with non-EN/UA layout pairs - French, German, Arabic, Hebrew, Greek. The double-shift mode should work for all of these and I want to know what breaks.
Thanks for checking it out 🙏
