# The Story Behind Bookrice Like many indie founders, I didn't set out to build a startup—I was trying to solve a problem I kept seeing. Every day on X, I watched incredible authors pour months or even years into writing a book. Then came the hardest part: getting readers to discover it. Marketing services often charged anywhere from $100 to $500 just for a single promotion. For many self-published authors, that's simply out of reach. At the same time, readers were struggling to find the best prices across different bookstores and discover hidden gems beyond the bestseller lists. That disconnect inspired me to build **Bookrice**. Bookrice is a global platform that helps readers compare book prices while giving indie authors an affordable way to showcase their books. Instead of expensive marketing packages, we wanted to make promotion accessible—something that costs about the price of a coffee. Building Bookrice wasn't a straight path. There were countless late nights fixing deployment issues, debugging analytics, getting payment integrations working, solving SEO problems, and celebrating tiny wins—like finally seeing our website icon appear correctly after hours of troubleshooting. Each obstacle reminded me why I started: to create something genuinely useful for the indie publishing community. Today, Bookrice is growing, with readers discovering new books and authors beginning to use the platform to reach new audiences. But this is only the beginning. Our vision is to become a place where: * Readers can easily discover books at the best prices. * Authors can promote their work without spending hundreds of dollars. * Independent publishing becomes a little more accessible for everyone. If you're an author, reader, or book lover, I'd love your feedback. Every comment, suggestion, and upvote helps shape what we build next. Thank you for checking out Bookrice and being part of the journey. 📚❤️
