BookPledge was inspired by the idea of connecting readers at different places through live audio-first storytelling as a reader page syncs with each other on their device. Even though bookclubs, audiobooks existed, storytelling among groups was still largely via messages and readers couldn't stay in sync with chapter pages being read in realtime by their peers. At the same time there was a need of a marketplace where all book professionals could enlist and provide their services. To help authors secure publishing contracts instead of going through self-publishing, we created the unpublished manuscript e-auction system. Overall, we intend to change publishing in favour of independant authors.
