Boltbar is a native macOS AI chat bar. Press ⌥ Space in any app to ask GPT or Claude, then get back to work. Agent mode hands Claude Code or Codex a project with Look/Ask/Edit/Full permissions. MIT, signed and notarized; brew or DMG. Optional €19 supporter license.
I built Boltbar because I was tired of switching windows just to ask GPT or Claude something small.
It’s a tiny native macOS chat bar (Swift, not Electron). Press ⌥Space in any app → ask → get back to work. There’s also an agent mode that can hand a project folder to Claude Code or Codex with Look / Ask / Edit / Full permissions.
Free and open source (MIT).
Signed + notarized. Install it by grabbing the DMG from the site or with brew
brew install --cask juanluisrto/boltbar/boltbar
Would love feedback on the agent permissions UX and anything that feels off on your Mac. What would make this a daily driver for you?
