I'm a developer from Germany. Last week I had an idea at 9pm: what if there was an AI tool that analyses business websites and tells owners exactly what's wrong — brutally, specifically, with real competitor comparisons?
By 2am I had a working product. Domain bought ($6.99), server configured, Stripe payments integrated, and the AI was scraping real websites and delivering analysis in the visitor's language automatically.
My first paying customer was a friend from Romania. He paid €9, but the unlock didn't work because I stored sessions in memory and the server had restarted. I refunded him, fixed the bug, and he paid again.
Some things I learned building this:
Ship ugly, fix later. My first version couldn't even read the website — it just guessed what the business did. It called a plant nursery a "web agency." I added real scraping the next morning.
The hardest part wasn't building — it was getting the AI to stop lying. It kept saying businesses had "zero social media" when they actually had Instagram with 700 followers. The site just didn't link to it. Took me hours to get the prompts right.
Reddit removed my first promotional post immediately (1 karma account). Fair enough.
Real users find real bugs. A friend tried a site that blocks scrapers — the whole thing crashed. Now it handles that gracefully.
Stripe sandbox to live took 15 minutes. The payment infrastructure is the easy part.
Tech stack: Python stdlib (no Flask), Caddy for HTTPS, Claude API for analysis, Stripe Checkout. Total cost: $6.99 domain + ~$0.02 per analysis in API fees. Running on a €5/month VPS.
