BerlinArea

105 Berlin places with their history, fully offline

BerlinArea is an offline iOS guide to 105 places in Berlin: museums, galleries, memorials, churches, parks, squares, bridges, landmarks. Map apps rank by review count, so everyone gets the same ten pins, and no listing says why a place matters. Each place sits on an antique map with a short history. Filter by category, search, save favourites, share your list as a code a friend pastes in. Everything runs offline. Available in 9 languages. No account, no ads, no tracking.

Hi Product Hunt. I live in Berlin. Every visitor asks me the same thing. Where should I go? I answered it by hand in WhatsApp for years. And I kept hearing the same line back. "Berlin is fine, but there's nothing except clubs." Usually from people who did four days. Brandenburg Gate. TV Tower. A queue outside Berghain. Home. That's a discovery problem. Google Maps ranks by review count, so everyone gets the same ten pins. Sammlung Boros is contemporary art inside a WWII bunker. You find it only if you already know the name. So I spent two months building the list properly. 105 places, each with a short history, so you know why you're standing there. Filter by interest. Save what you like. Hand your list to a friend as a short code they paste into their own app. All of it runs offline. The map, the photos and the texts ship inside the bundle. Nine languages. No account. Built alone with React Native, MapLibre and OpenStreetMap data compiled into PMTiles. The offline map ate most of the two months, ask me anything about it. And tell me a Berlin place that's missing. I'll add it.

Who hunted BerlinArea?

BerlinArea was hunted by Elman Huseynov. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
