Belletra
Learn a language through its greatest literature.
One sentence of great literature per day, taken apart word by word. Etymology, grammar, the precise reason writers reached for these words — not the language that merely gets you by. Belletra opens with French. More languages coming soon.

I built Belletra because every language app I tried taught me to survive — order coffee, ask for directions — but none of them taught me to read. I wanted to understand why Verlaine chose pleure over pleuvoir, why Proust's sentences move the way they do, what French can say that English simply cannot. That's the gap Belletra fills. Each day you get one sentence from a real writer. You hear it first, guess the word it turns on, then descend eight steps — etymology, grammar, register, the silence it keeps. By the end you've rebuilt it from memory. It opens with French. More languages are coming — the order is decided by votes inside the app. Would love to hear which language you'd want next. 🎉
