We’re back with a big update for Badges 2.0!
A huge thank you to everyone who has provided feedback during our beta and a special shout out to the Classic City Cycling fitness studio in Athens, GA for using our platform to run a 2 week marketing campaign with 30+ collectibles created and hundreds claimed. Congrats! Also, thank you to Galleray for using Badges as an awesome example of minting AI art as digital collectibles. Cool stuff!
A reminder about why we created Badges:
We want to make Web3 more accessible and useful for people, especially for artists, creators and businesses who aren’t as familiar with the space. You shouldn’t need to know about digital wallets, gas fees or smart contracts to get started.
For artists, creators and businesses, we see digital collectibles as powerful tools that unlock new ways to engage, connect and build community with your audience.
The platform’s ease-of-use and familiar UI make it easy to create and attract more fans, supporters and buyers to your work.
What’s New in Badges 2.0:
You can now buy and sell collectibles on Badges. We are now integrated with Stripe (USD, US only) to enable a seamless buying and selling process. Additionally, we added personal dashboards to track sales and revenue. It’s simple and fun.
You can now mint on Polygon and Gnosis blockchains. There are two types of collectibles you can create on Badges: (1) collectibles that are for sale, and (2) collectibles that are free. For collectibles that are for sale, we mint on Polygon. For collectibles that are free, we mint on Gnosis. Costs and scale heavily weighed these decisions.
You can now create and mint UNLIMITED collectibles for FREE. We removed all paid tiers and made Badges free to create and mint as many collectibles as you want. That’s right, no gas fees. Our business model: we take a 10% cut when/if you decide to sell a collectible and you keep 90%. See how easy and fun it is by quickly collecting our Badges Beta Tester collectible. All you need is an email address.
You can now share your public profile. Create a unique username, add your social links and upload a profile pic and you’re good to go. People can now see the collectibles you create and the collectibles you own! For businesses, this is kinda like a new form of social advertising; we even offer analytics to view collectible stats like views / impressions. Even more, you can view the email addresses of the people who do own your collectible which is kinda like lead gen! For artists, think of digital collectibles as a way to get more exposure to your work and/or earn more revenue. Check out these profile examples:

You can now “reveal” content when people claim or purchase your collectible. We added a “Reveal Box” to the create flow so you can add exclusive content like messages or unique codes that are only visible to the people who claim or purchase your collectible. A few use cases for inspiration that we like:
AI artist that hides / reveals their “Midjourney prompt”
E-commerce brand that hides / reveals a “discount code”
Newsletter that hides / reveals a “special link” or “exclusive information”
Non-Profit that hides / reveals a “personal thank you message”
Creator that hides / reveals a “special merch drop date”
Social club that hides / reveals the “event directions”
Friend that hides / reveals a “private message”
Political group that hides / reveals a “candidate message”
Influencer that hides / reveals their “office hours link” or a “personal welcome to the team message”
Musician that hides / reveals a “private download link” to new music
