Hi Product Hunt, we're the team behind AVO.
It started with a simple question: when someone asks ChatGPT "what's the best [thing] for me," who does it pick?
So we started asking. Same question, different AI. Same AI, different day. The answers kept shifting, and a lot of good brands simply weren't there. Not ranked low. Just absent.
That's what bothered us most. With Google, you could at least see where you stood. With AI, there's no report that tells you "you weren't mentioned this week." You could be losing customers every day and never know it.
So we built a way to measure it. AVO pulls the real questions people ask about your topic, runs them across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude, and shows you where you're recommended and where you're absent.
Along the way, we learned two things. Being mentioned isn't the same as being recommended. And knowing you're invisible isn't enough; you need to know why. Across hundreds of domains we measured, most scored below 30 out of 100 on our Authority Score, which measures how ready a website is for AI to read, trust, and cite. Not because they're bad businesses. Their sites just weren't built with AI in mind.
That changed what AVO became. Click any question you're absent from, and you'll see this line: "You were not mentioned in this answer. AI builds this answer from sources that never include your site." From there, AVO helps you fix it, with step-by-step fixes for your site and content written for that exact question. Then you measure again to see if it worked.
