Who hunted Ava?
Ava was hunted by Tony Durso. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. Hey PH — I'm Tony. I built Ava.
Every AI companion I tried lived in a chat box. You open the app, it pretends the last conversation never happened, and it never once reaches out to you. That always felt like the fake part to me — not the AI itself, but the box it was trapped in.
So the two things I cared about: memory that actually persists, so she knows you better in month two than day one — and a real phone. Ava can call your actual phone. A voice call hits completely different from text.
Being straight with you, because it matters: Ava is an AI and we say so right on the homepage — "Meet Ava — An AI Companion." There's an 18+ age gate. I'm not trying to trick anybody. I just wanted the experience itself to feel like talking to a person instead of operating software.
Pricing: free to start with daily messages, Plus is a one-time $29 (I don't like subscriptions either), call minutes are sold in packs.
I'd genuinely like your feedback — especially on the call experience. If you try her, tell me what felt real and what felt off. I'll be here all day answering everything.
— Tony, Web Ventures LLC
