AutoKap — Automated Screenshots for SaaS
Your SaaS screenshots on autopilot, powered by your AI IDE
AutoKap turns screenshots into code. Ask Cursor or Claude Code to write a capture preset, run it locally, and get polished assets across every locale, theme, and viewport (and mockups!) — AI-verified, Studio-beautified, ready to ship. Stop hand-retaking screenshots.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Clément, solo founder building AutoKap out of Nantes, France.
Why I built this ?
I ship SaaS side projects with Cursor and Claude Code, and every time I shipped a new feature, my landing page screenshots were already out of date. Retaking them by hand — across EN/FR, light/dark, mobile/desktop — ate entire afternoons. I looked for tools: screenshot APIs (ScreenshotOne, Urlbox) can't reach authenticated flows or interactive states. LaunchBrightly works but is enterprise-priced. Nothing plugged into the way I actually build, which is: prompt my coding assistant, ship, forget about it.
How it works.
- 1. You add `data-ak` attributes in your code (stable targets — your coding assistant does this for you).
- 2. You ask Cursor/Claude Code to generate a capture preset — a typed program of opcodes (`NAVIGATE`, `CLICK`, `CAPTURE_SCREENSHOT`, etc.).
- 3. You run `autokap run ` locally. The capture engine runs deterministically, AI vision verifies each shot, Studio beautifies with shadows/backgrounds/brand overlays.
- 4. You get every variant (locale × theme × viewport) in one go.
The engineering story.
I originally built this as a fully AI-driven agent — LLM calls at every navigation step. It was unreliable, expensive, and never really worked. I ripped it out and rebuilt around a deterministic opcode runtime; AI is now reserved for overlay dismissal, quality verification, and last-resort healing. This shift is the reason the product actually ships today.
Pricing.
Free tier: 25 credits/month (1 screenshot = 1 credit). Maker: €12/month (annual). Team: €39/month. No credit card for the free tier.
I'd love your feedback — especially from fellow solo builders and small SaaS teams. What's your current screenshot workflow? What breaks? Ask me anything 🙏
