Quick story: I launched Aurora on iOS a few months back — a Safari extension that gives every website a real dark mode. I figured a handful of people would try it and move on. Instead the 5-star reviews started rolling in from the US, Japan, Germany, Korea, Mexico… and almost every one had the same two words buried in it: "Mac version?"
So I put everything else down and spent the last few weeks rebuilding the whole engine for desktop Safari. Today it's live on Mac.
Why it exists, since someone always asks how it differs from the dark mode already on your Mac: the system setting only darkens Safari's *toolbar*. The actual page stays blinding white on any site that doesn't ship its own dark theme. Aurora darkens the page itself — every site, automatically.
