Hardcore Mode: App cannot be closed until the timer ends. Stop just tracking your time—start leveling up your knowledge!
Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm super excited to share Aurora with you today.
Why I built it (The Problem): I've used dozens of Pomodoro timers, and they all share the same fatal flaw: they track time, not focus. I found myself starting a 25-minute timer on my phone, getting distracted for 15 minutes, and still feeling a false sense of accomplishment when the timer rang.
What Aurora is (The Solution): Aurora is a gamified Pomodoro desktop app built to actually verify focus and make deep work rewarding. Instead of just counting down minutes, it holds you accountable.
Why it’s different: 💻 Desktop-First: I didn't want to make another mobile app, because who really does deep work on their phone? Desktop is where the real work happens. Whether you're coding, studying, or writing, Aurora operates where you work across all major operating systems.
🛡️ Hardcore Mode: For the ultimate procrastinators. Once you start a session, the app cannot be closed or bypassed. You have no choice but to focus.
🧠 AI Knowledge Checks: Set a topic before you start. When the timer ends, Aurora's built-in AI (powered by Gemini) generates a custom quiz to evaluate what you actually learned.
🎮 Gamification: Prove your focus to earn XP, build streaks, level up your profile, and add friends to track theirs

I'm currently working on new features, such as a Chrome extension that can block URL's linked with my app!
What is your biggest distraction when trying to do deep work on your computer?
Have you ever tried to "cheat" your own productivity timers?
What do you think about using AI to verify learning rather than just tracking time?
What other features would you like to see in a Pomodoro app?
I'll be hanging around the comments all day to answer your questions and hear your feedback. 🚀
