ata-validator
Fast, correct JSON Schema validation for JavaScript
ata is a JSON Schema validator for JavaScript. It passes the whole official test suite and ranks first in all six validation and parsing tables on schemabenchmarks.dev. Errors say what is wrong and where, down to line and column. It runs where code generation is blocked, such as Cloudflare Workers, and its pattern engine is linear-time, so one crafted string cannot stall a server. With the bundler plugin, new Validator(schema) compiles away to a few KB.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Mert, and I've been building ata for the past year.
It started with a simple frustration: validating request bodies was either fast or correct, and it usually broke the moment code generation was not allowed, like on Cloudflare Workers or under a strict CSP. I wanted one validator that did not make me choose.
So ata compiles schemas for speed, and falls back to an interpreter that gives exactly the same answers when compiling is not allowed. It passes 100% of the official JSON Schema test suite in both modes.
A few things I'm proud of:
- Error messages that point to the exact line and column, with a hint on how to fix it
- A linear-time pattern engine, so a crafted string cannot freeze your server
- A bundler plugin that compiles new Validator(schema) away: a small app ships 2.6 KB instead of about 100 KB, with no code changes
Every number on the page is measured, and the benchmarks are public. I would love your feedback, especially if you try it on your own schemas.
