I built Astra Scientist to make that distinction tangible. You get ten measurements in a virtual cold-atom lab. Should you wait longer, change the compression, or compare atom numbers? Each choice costs one measurement, and every result stays in the record.
During the GPT-6 Astra Challenge, Astra helped turn my physical specification into a shared Python model, an interactive workbench, and a replay system that preserves the original observations. I set the scientific assumptions and scope; Astra assisted implementation, debugging and checks in Codex.
The public workbench runs the same Python physics in your browser. You can choose settings yourself or follow a clearly labelled rule. No live model API is used, and all observations are synthetic.
The saved examples include a wrong numerical fit and an insufficient-evidence conclusion. Those are useful parts of the demonstration: a report should make uncertainty and mistakes inspectable. The 90-second walkthrough is available through Watch the demo on the product page.
