👋 Hey Product Hunt!
AskData AI started from a problem I kept seeing: valuable business data sits inside databases, but getting answers often requires SQL knowledge, dashboard creation, or help from data teams. I wanted to make data exploration as simple as having a conversation.
One of the biggest challenges while building AskData AI was AI infrastructure. Using commercial LLM APIs for every query quickly becomes expensive and difficult to scale for a bootstrapped product. To solve this, I built the backend around a self-hosted Ollama setup, giving me more control over costs, privacy, and performance while keeping the experience fast and reliable.
Today, AskData AI lets users ask questions in plain English and instantly receive visualizations and insights from their data.
