I'm Ido, and ASCII Studio started with a very small, slightly nerdy moment.
I was putting together a gift for someone close to me - a tiny project with a photo turned into text art, the kind you can hide in a README or print in a terminal. I tried a bunch of converters. Almost all of them wanted me to upload the photo to a server first. It was a personal picture, and I just couldn't do it. The ones that didn't upload looked like they were built in 2009.
So I built the tool I wanted: drop in an image and watch it turn into characters, live, right in the browser. Nothing is uploaded - your image never leaves your device, and it even works offline.
