Hello, I’m muigetsu, the solo developer behind Artifacts. For the past two years, I’ve been building an MMORPG where players control their characters by writing code and interacting with a public API. You can use any programming language capable of making HTTP requests. Your characters can explore the world, fight monsters, gather resources, craft equipment, complete quests, and participate in raids with other players. Artifacts is built around competitive seasons. At the beginning of each season, everyone starts again and competes to progress through the game and reach the top of the leaderboards. The game has just left beta with the launch of Season 8, so this felt like the right time to finally share it here. I’d especially appreciate feedback on the concept and onboarding experience. I’m also happy to answer any questions about the API, game systems, or the experience of developing the project mostly alone.

Who hunted Artifacts?
Artifacts was hunted by Muigetsu. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
