I'm Piero, the maker of Apex Midnight.
I grew up on arcade racers, and I kept hitting the same wall as an adult: wanting to race a friend meant both of us owning the same console, the same game, and finding a free evening. Sixty gigabytes, or even more, of download to spend eight minutes on a track together.
So I built the version I wanted. Apex Midnight is a full multiplayer racing game that runs in a browser tab. You open a link, you're on the grid.
What's in it:
- real-time synchronized racing over WebSockets, with live position streaming
- a garage: buy cars, tune them, customise them cosmetically
- lobbies you create and control, with AI opponents filling empty grid slots so a race never dies waiting for players
- nitro, pick-up weapons, collisions, and a fuel survival modifier that turns the last lap into a decision
- rivals leaderboards per circuit, with ghost replays so you race the record, not just the number
- driver levelling, an Elo ladder, weekly championships, daily challenges, achievements and titles
- keyboard or gamepad (Xbox / PlayStation, USB or Bluetooth, with haptics)
- interface translated in English, Italian, German, French and Spanish
- tech, for the curious: Laravel 13 + Inertia + React 19 on the front, Three.js WebGL2 renderer with custom arcade vehicle physics, Laravel Reverb for the WebSocket layer.
