Annota is a secure, FREE Cross Platform local-first offline capable note taking and knowledge management tool. It has an optional Sync system with secure end-to-end encryption for all the data and optional AI Integration. It supports on launch Macbook/iPhone/iPad through App Store and Windows through github releases, I will release on Android later on. Feel free to follow along as I really want it to become a reliable and comfortable writing solution.

The app already ships with a lot of features : - PDF/Images uploads with auto compression and duplicate recognition - Fully WYSIWYG Beautiful editor (custom blocks like flashcard, "/" commands, etc) - AI Integration : currently it's simple :in-line quick rewrite or chat bot : for privacy I have a smart RAG like FTS5 based search and smart context builder to minimize token usage (it's really minimizing the tokens to be super token friendly) so you can select folders/notes and by the input it will score and take the important part of the notes in the context. (I want to improve the AI usage but put it on hold until I come with a perfect solution and integration) - Fully Offline FREE local option if you choose not to log in - If you do choose to log in, everything on the backend (Supabase - You can see the docs on github how I set it up super secure) everything is encrypted locally (files and notes data) so server can't see anything. - Exports (pdf / markdown ) and Import from markdown - Note linking, open tasks detection system and Much more ! ---------- (?) Feel free to suggest ideas of how to integrate AI or any other ideas that will make this app more useful. (I don't intend to make it into an "all capable" app but to keep it's focus on note taking aspect and excel it). I already have MCP server plan in mind, but it's hard to come with a balance of privacy vs productivity so I will probably implement it later on. (?) I also have on mind a cool way to expand the editor in niche ways with custom blocks instead of bloating the editor so I have plans for the future. I really think it turned our very nice, easy to maintain architecture and very scalable editor (I can expand it with custom blocks but in a way to be mobile friendly as well) - Also feel free to join the discord server, contributing to GitHub and suggesting anything. I am using this app for personal usage so I would probably change it to my liking mostly, but I would like others to enjoy it as well. - I also posted some blog posts about some of the architecture, feel free to check it out at https://lirans.online/

Who hunted Annota?

Annota was hunted by LiranS. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
